A total of 20 CCGS members participated in our traditional season opener at Rye. At lunch on Day 1, after 18 holes of foursomes on the Old Course, we were down by a point but the afternoon session over 9 on the Jubilee Course saw the scores levelled at the close of play.
I suspect that a good evening was had by all in the evening and reinforced by a few new faces, the Society took to the Old Course on Sunday morning to push for overall victory. And we did winning the final session by 4.5 to 3.5 and therefore take the honours overall by 12.5 to 11.5.
The members who participated over the weekend were : Bill Merry, Andy Needham, Nigel Ross, Graham Rose, Neil Burns, Julian Thompson, Tim Wren, Jonny Longley, Roy Dexter, Richard Baker, Craig Jones, Simon Daniels, Ted Rose, Tony Pigott, Guy McDonnell, Jon Hardy, Geraint Jones, Charlie Rowe, Paul Parker and Steve Andrew. It was by all accounts a 'magical weekend", to quote our 2022 Captain, Neil Burns!
