After a gap of 3 years, the Society returned to the Royal Mid-Surrey on Sunday for a wonderful morning of golf on the JHB Taylor Course (the Outer) and superb hospitality. Under the non-playing match management of Ted Clark, our team of ten battled gamely but we came out second-best, going down 4 to 1 over the 5 4BBB matches.
The result however suggests a one-sided contest - it was not with most matches only being won or lost on the 18th having been close throughout. The course itself was in great condition, although the greens were a little bumpy, and as the wind picked up, the closing holes became tough.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable match and our thanks go to our hosts who were as hospitable as always throughout the day. The Society team was Bryan Richardson, John Shepherd, Harry Latchman, John Emburey, Gladstone Small, Neil Sargent, Wayne Osman, Mark Feltham, Jon Hardy and Chris Goldie.
