The Society's Annual Spring Meeting - when we invite a representative of every club who so generously hosts us during the year - took place at Denham on Thursday 4th May. Expertly organised by your fantastic Secretary, Richard Baker (who even ensured that we enjoyed a rain-free day), the meeting was a resounding success. 32 of our 38 opponents attended to enjoy an 18 hole Pairs Stableford competition. The course was, as always, in great condition with the greens in particular proving to be fast but challenging. Most of our guests were paired with a Society member but the winners on the day were two of our guests - Graham Whicker from Crowborough Beacon and Nigel Leigh from Edgbaston - who were paired together and came home with an excellent 41 points to take the honours.
Runners-up were Nigel Cowley and Grenville Rose from Worcester Golf and Country Club whilst Nigel Ross and Mary Bond from West Sussex finished in 3rd place.
Nigel Leigh also won nearest the pin for our guests on the tricky 12th whilst Guy McDonnell was the member who finished nearest to the pin on notorious 8th hole.
All in all a memorable day, with 28 members and a couple of personal guests making up an overall field of 60 players. Needless to say the lunch served was as amazing as it always is at Denham, the wine flowed and for some, there was even a Kummel or two to finish the day!
